Four decades ago, Elvis Presley passed away but his legacy still lives. Several Memphis venues will commemorate him with talks, conferences, concerts, races, auctions, fan meetings and other events from August 11-19.
Graceland, the University of Memphis, the FedEx Forum and Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center among other venues, will put on a show to celebrate the life and legacy of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, 40 years after his death.

With the participation of culturally diverse Memphis families, multidisciplinary artist Yancy Villa-Calvo will be taking her latest artistic adventure to the streets. Titled “Barrier Free: A socially Engaged Art Installation”, the exhibit will be set up at Overton Park, on May 12th and 13th.

The organizers of the Memphis in May International Festival have released the lineup for the 2017 Beale Street Music Festival to be held in the Tom Lee Park on May 5th. Through the 7th. The highlight of this year will be the bands Kings of Leon, Soundgarden, Death Cab for Cutie, Snoop Dogg, Widespread Panic, MGMT, Wiz Khalifa, and X Ambassadors.
Kings of Leon, a band from Nashville, TN, is at the top of its game. They make a stop in Memphis as part of the promotional tour for their latest album “WALLS” released in 2016; although, this band has toured almost constantly since the release of their 2008 release of the multi-awarded record “Only By The Night”.
